Born In The Street was born from a passion between two collectors for graffiti, now conventionally assimilated to street art. Our objective is to promote those artists who fascinate us.
The art world is today very strongly captured by the art market, the quality of the graphic work is lost more and more to benefit of non-aesthetic argumentative discourse... or purely financial investment principles.
The conformist policies of galleries push them to show artists who are already known. Today many major artists in the history of graffiti are unknown to the general public, and their work is rarely shown, if not repesented in the shadow of one of their comrades.
This period of history, wich is becoming a major movement in the history of art, is facinating. Graffiti was born in the street, in the hands of young people who had no other ambition than to express themselves with their own identity, in the image of their time and their life. Hip-hop, wich gave rhythm to this era, was driving force behind their work, wich let's not forget, was relegated to the rank of vandalism in its time.
With this in mind, we set about organising a project to promote the hisorical artists of graffiti. Our proposal is based on rich website and personal exhibitions of these graffiti artists. To allow people to understand this history, these people, their careers and their graphic choices.
